1. Who we are
Namma Thailapuram is a community application for the residents and wellwishers of Thailapuram village. It is operated by the village community administrators (referred to as “we”, “us” or “the app” in this policy).
2. Information we collect
When you create an account and use the app, we collect:
- Account information: your email address and an encrypted form of your password (managed by Firebase Authentication).
- Profile information you provide: display name, phone number (optional), and profile photo (optional).
- Diagnostic information: crash reports and basic device/app information (via Firebase Crashlytics) so we can fix problems. No personally identifying content is included in these reports.
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, SMS, call logs, or any data outside of what you provide in the app.
3. How we use your information
- To let you sign in and identify you to other community members.
- To display your name, role and (optional) photo alongside community content.
- To send you village announcements and festival updates.
- To improve the app's reliability via crash diagnostics.
4. Where your data is stored
Your data is stored on Google’s Firebase platform (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore and Cloud Storage), with access restricted by security rules that limit who can read and write each record. Photographs you upload are stored in Firebase Cloud Storage.
5. Who can see your data
- Other signed-in community members can see your display name, role and (if provided) photo in the community directory.
- Village administrators can additionally see your email and phone number for community-management purposes.
- We never sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers or third-party data brokers.
6. Your choices and rights
- Edit your profile: update your name, phone or photo at any time from Settings → My Profile.
- Delete your account: remove your account and your profile record permanently from Settings → My Profile. This action cannot be undone.

7. Children’s privacy
The app is intended for community members aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us so we can remove it.
8. Security
We use Firebase Authentication for secure password handling and Firebase App Check (Play Integrity) to protect against abuse from unauthorised app clients. All data is transmitted over HTTPS.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make a material change we will update the effective date at the top of this page.
